Banana Chocolate Cake~bread

Banana Chocolate Cake~bread

This is a great recipe if you have extra bananas that are about to go bad or are too overripe to eat. You can also customize it to suit your taste. I happen to think brown sugar works better than plain sugar for dishes involving bananas. I changed and halved this recipe since I have a small family you can easily double it and produce a bigger cake. Enjoy!

Ingredients:

  •  1/4 cup (1/2 stick) unsalted butter
  •  3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  •  1/2  teaspoon baking soda
  •  1/4 teaspoon fine salt
  •  1/2  cup brown sugar
  •  1 large egg
  • 4 ripe bananas
  •  1 teaspoon vanilla powder or extract
  •  2 bars of chocolate

Materials: Measuring cups and spoons, hand mixer or blender, whisk or fork
baking pan.

Method:
Step 1: Preheat oven at 350 degrees
Step 2: grease and flour pan
Step 3: Put salt, flour and baking soda in a bowl and mix by hand.
Step 4: In a blender add the butter and sugar and mix until it resembles crumbs.
Step 5: Add egg, vanilla powder, sliced up banana/pieces and crumbled up chocolate to the blender.
Step 6: pulse until it looks like a smoothie.
Step 7: Add "smoothie" to flour mixture use whisk and combine until smooth.
Step 8: Bake for 30-45 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.

Tips:
  • Blender is a lot easier than hand mixer and will combine ingredients a lot more easily.
  • You can allow it to cool and frost it or add some powdered sugar
  • Overripe bananas work well in the dish
  • You can also add some cocoa powder to flour mixture to add more of a chocolate flavor.
  • You can use 3 ounces of chocolate instead of bars

Enjoy!

Decorate with whatever you have around
*this cake was inhaled in half as soon as it was served by my fiance

Don't worry if it's a little black on-top
To remove cake just run a butter knife around edges of pan place on-top of plate and tap lightly
